Same-day care depends on availability.

For trouble breathing or swallowing, severe facial swelling or uncontrolled bleeding, call 911 or go to an emergency department.

Call about tooth pain, swelling or an injury

For an urgent dental concern, call (916) 481-3930 so our Sacramento team can understand what happened and discuss appointment timing. Tell us when symptoms began, whether they are worsening, and whether you have swelling, fever, an injury or difficulty opening your mouth. If a tooth was knocked out, say so immediately.

Same-day appointments depend on availability and the clinical concern. Dental Krafts is open Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 8 AM–5 PM, and Wednesday and Friday, 8 AM–2 PM. We are closed on weekends and do not provide a 24-hour dental service. Do not wait for an online booking response when care is urgent; if we are unavailable, seek another urgent dental provider.

When to seek emergency medical care

Call 911 or go to an emergency department for trouble breathing or swallowing, severe facial swelling or uncontrolled bleeding. Swelling affecting the eye or vision also needs immediate medical attention. A suspected dental abscess needs urgent dental treatment even if the pain temporarily improves.

Practical steps while you arrange care

Toothache or a broken tooth

Gently rinse with warm water. If food is trapped, carefully use floss; do not use sharp tools. Do not put aspirin directly on a tooth or gum. For an injury with swelling, a cold compress against the outside of the face may help while you seek care. These steps do not repair a crack or treat an infection.

A permanent tooth has been knocked out

Get dental help immediately. Pick up the tooth by the crown, the part normally visible in the mouth, and avoid touching the root. If it is dirty, gently rinse it with water; do not scrub, dry it or use soap. If possible, gently place the permanent tooth back in its socket. Otherwise keep it in milk or a tooth-preservation product while getting to a dentist. Do not let it dry out. Do not reinsert a knocked-out baby tooth. If you are unsure which type it is, get immediate professional guidance.

A filling or crown has come out

Tell us what came out, when it happened and whether the exposed tooth is painful or sharp. The dentist needs to assess the remaining tooth before deciding whether the restoration can be replaced or a different repair is needed. Call for instructions suited to your situation.

What an emergency dental visit can accomplish

Close-up of teeth being examined with a dental mirror.

The visit begins with your symptoms, health history and an examination. Imaging or other tooth tests may be needed. The goal is to identify the cause and explain what can be addressed now, what requires another appointment and whether a specialist referral is appropriate.

Depending on the findings, care may involve a temporary repair, a filling, a crown, root canal treatment or an extraction. An urgent appointment does not guarantee that every stage will be completed that day. Before leaving, confirm any temporary restoration precautions and the follow-up needed to complete care.

Preparation and cost

Bring a current medication list, allergies, relevant health information and your insurance details. Ask about the evaluation fee when calling and request an estimate for the proposed treatment before proceeding. The cost depends on the diagnosis and recommended procedure, so an examination is needed for a meaningful treatment estimate. Dental Krafts welcomes PPO and self-pay patients; HMO plans are not accepted. Ask our team to check your exact PPO plan. Cherry and CareCredit financing are available subject to provider approval and terms.

Tell the team about dental anxiety, pregnancy, medical conditions or medicines that could affect care. Ask which payment or insurance options apply to your visit and whether a referral would have a separate charge.

YOUR QUESTIONS, ANSWERED

Questions about urgent dental care

Can I be seen today?

Call as early as possible to describe the problem. Same-day care depends on the schedule and your needs. The team can explain current availability; an online request is not confirmation of an emergency appointment.

Will antibiotics fix an infected tooth?

Antibiotics are not a substitute for treating the source of a dental problem. Many toothaches need dental treatment rather than antibiotics. Whether medication is needed depends on the diagnosis, signs of spreading infection and your health.

Does a broken tooth always need removal?

No. Repair may be possible, depending on the fracture and remaining tooth structure. The examination helps determine whether a filling, crown, root canal treatment or extraction is appropriate.

What if the pain goes away before my appointment?

Call the office to discuss the change. Improvement alone does not show that a fracture or infection has resolved. Keep the recommended evaluation unless the dental team advises a different plan.
